Working that editing thing

Greetings all.

Just thought I'd give you an update as to what's going on. I'm working on doing what I hope is final style and grammatical editing, or, if you prefer, the final proof edit before I get the actual proof of The Unknown Elf. Fingers crossed that it goes quickly. I hope to release this story on November 22, 2014, so we'll see how things go.

I'm also working on cover art for this. Who knew that almost double-majoring in art would be this helpful? Ah well, I always have liked both writing and drawing. And I'm drawing the cover by hand, so that makes it even more exciting.

A bit later on, I might give a snippet of the story. But for those who wish a bit of a reminder, since I'm sure I posted this before, here's what's going on the back cover:

Marie never expected to wake up in North Pole City, let alone become Santa’s Emergency Replacement. It was a job she never wanted but couldn’t turn down, thanks to Clarence, Santa’s right hand man.

Now, Marie has to work with Clarence, who believes she is some kind of criminal who will cause the destruction of everything he holds dear. Trying to prove that he’s wrong, Marie keeps making mistakes that push them even further apart. It doesn’t help that she has a past she’d rather keep hidden. However, trying to keep her past where it should belong isn’t easy.

Just when Marie starts to feel like things are coming together, a madman with a bone to pick, and Christmas to ruin, threatens the whole of the North Pole Organization. Marie must rely on Clarence and her new friends to help her face her past before Christmas is gone forever.  But does she have the courage to truly be herself when it could mean losing everything?

Dorcha Adhmad is up!

Just a reminder that my short story, Dorcha Adhmad, is available for pre-order, and will be out (in full), starting tomorrow! You can find it on Kindle at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N85DD2G and on the Nook at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dorcha-adhmad-the-dark-forest-karlie-lucas/1120328513?ean=2940150312319

I'm really excited about this little ghost story, which I wrote back in eighth grade. But I dusted it off, changed it up a bit, expanded a section or two. And I think the end result is a nice little story perfect for Halloween!

#dorchaadhmad I'm loving it!

Designing a Cover

Hey all.

I just thought that I'd share that I'm working on designing a cover for my book, The Unknown Elf. It's a bit of a daunting task, especially as I'm working on several other projects, outside of my day job. But, I think that it will go well.  Got the basic elements and just need to figure out how to put them together.

In the meantime, I'd like to start promoting my story. And, fingers crossed, it should be available for pre-order by the end of November, just in time for the Christmas Season. At least that's the hope!

So, what's The Unknown Elf about? Well, it's about an elf named Marie, who finds herself in a very unlikely situation. Having overcome a great many obstacles in her past, she somehow finds herself in the least likely place possible, The North Pole. And once there, she somehow managed to alienate Santa's right hand elf, Clarence.

Then her life becomes a lot more complicated when she is made Santa's Emergency Replacement Specialist, which makes her equal in authority (at least in general matters), with Clarence. And, of course, Clarence isn't happy about it.

Despite the hostility of their relationship, Marie is able to form friendships with various members of her new home.  But that fragile peace is shattered when the events of her past come back to haunt her, threatening everything she has come to love.

I'd tell you more, but that might give it all away. So, please look forward to potential cover progress and updates on this project! And I hope you will all read it when it comes out.

Oh, yes, shameless plug for my story, Dorcha Adhmad, which is now available via Nook Books and Amazon Kindle. Short and sweet, but a fun read!

Finally publishing with Dorcha Adhmad

Greetings all! Yes, tis I, that crazy writer lady with the crazy ginger cat.

Actually, I'm not really all that crazy. I just can't vouch for the cat. But I love her.

Anyway, I'm posting to give some news that I think is exciting. I'm publishing my first ever eBook! Tis a nice short story, and I mean short. It's at about 9,300 words, or eight printed pages long. And it was originally written back when I was in the eight grade. However, I have revised and tweaked and made it all nice and neat and will be releasing it to the world October 1, 2014! And, as for now, it's in Kindle format only. I plan on adding a few other formats later, but one step at a time!

Dorcha Adhmad, or The Dark Forest, is a story about two boys in a place that could be Ireland. I'm not going to admit one way or the other, but it could be Ireland. Well, let's just say that they hear a ghost story from one of the boy's grandmother's and... somehow end up stuck in the story.

Those who I've let read it so far seem to quite enjoy it and I hope that everyone else who reads it will enjoy it as well. So give it a read when it comes out and let your friends borrow it as well. I think you'll like it, especially if you like a good ol' fashioned ghost story!
